China Health authorities this morning reported the death toll from the
coronavirus as being at 1,487, confirmed infected cases at 65,487 and those in severe critical condition at 10,620.
Chinese doctors are saying that the numbers of patients progressing into severe critical stages is fast accelerating and also causing a big stress on the medical infrastructure with shortages of medical supplies and medical staff.
Meanwhile, a network of doctors is defying Chinese authorities so called clampdown on releasing any data with regards to the
coronavirus situation in China by saying that they will start disseminating data directly to foreign media.
A senior White House official commented on Thursday (Feb 13), "We are a little disappointed that we haven't been invited in and we're a little disappointed in the lack of transparency coming from the Chinese with all issues regarding the
coronavirus," Larry Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council, told reporters during a press conference.
He added, “Unanswered questions were mounting and there was no sign of the promised cooperation on the
coronavirus epidemic. President Xi assured President Trump that China was on it and there would be openness, they would accept our help. We're more than willing to work with the UN (and) WHO on this and they won't let us. I don't know what their motives are. I do know that apparently more and more people are suffering over there."
He asked, "Is the Politburo really being honest with us?" referring to communist China's top leadership body.
China has to date not allowed any international medical teams to observe and help on the actual ground level at hospitals, medical facilities and especially more at Hubei province.
WHO has send a team of medical specialists to Beijing on Sunday but to date there are no reports from them with regards to
coronavirus epidemic situation.
The US CDC has made repeated calls to China on information sharing and date but has met with the same non-response from China.
So far, only the WHO leadership has been China’ closest ally with the WHO’s Ethiopian chief constantly saying that China is doing a good job of having the
coronavirus under control despite the contrary!
To date, all daily death tolls and confirmed
coronavirus infected cases are only released from China health authorities which has been filled with inconsistencies and no real audit from credible entities.
