The
China health authorities as of 9pm Bangkok time announced that the total death toll is only 58 while the numbers infected is a mere 2147. (the figures released by the health authorities do no tally with actual happening in hospitals all over the affected cities!)
Bodies piling up at a hospital in Wuhan
A Chinese doctor at
Wuhan General Hospital speaking on conditions of anonymity told
Thailand Medical News that the realistic conservative figures of the number of deaths due to the
virus should be actually more than 620 while the number infected all over
China should be in the range of at least between 17,000 to 18,000.
Meanwhile in
Thailand, there are now a total of 8 cases of individuals who had been infected with the virus while another 20 that are under what is termed as “PUI” or patient under investigation. Japan, Taiwan, US, South Korea, Macau and Hong Kong reported new cases. Cote d'Ivoire in the African continent has also reported its first case. The current cases worldwide are : Thailand (8 cases), Hong Kong (6 cases), Australia (4 cases), Singapore (4 cases), Malaysia (4 cases), Japan (3 cases),Taiwan (4 cases), France(3 cases), Macao (5 cases), South Korea (3 cases), Vietnam (2 cases), United States(3 cases), Canada (1 case),Nepal (1 case) and Mexico (1 case), Africa-Cote d’Ivoire (1)
Thailand is expected to be the next main country to have the most number of infected materializing in the next few weeks due to the fact that at least between 800,000 to 950,000 Chinese travellers have visited the country just in the month for January 2020 alone not including figures for December 2019 when the new
coronavirus was first discovered around the middle of that month. The Thai government is desperate for the Chinese tourist dollar due to the bad shape of its domestic economy over the last 5 years.
Phillipines has 11 suspected cases under observations, Sri Lanka has 2 cases under observation, while in the towns of Mongla and Keng Tung in Myanmar, there are speculations that there are whole villages that are affected.PAkistan meanwhile has 4 suspected cases that are being monitored.
Many countries from Jordan, US, UK, France, Australia and Japan are preparing to evacuate its citizens from
Wuhan while some are asking all its citizens in
China to leave.
Contrary reports are emerging from
China, in one case the
Health Minister Ma Xiaowei has announced publicly this evening that during the
incubation period when symptoms do not materialize in those infected, these individuals still have the capacity to spread the disease through the exhaled air. This shows that the
2019-nCoV virus is indeed very potent and has mutated while another health official is claiming that the virus has not mutated. Experts currently say that the
incubation period
for the
virus is between 2 to 10 days.
Taiwan and Macau has now prohibited all Chinese nationals from entering the country.
An interesting potential treatment protocol that requires additional research has emerged from a source in Thailand: Read-

Meanwhile epidemiological experts in Europe and US are expecting that severity of this
epidemic will start to materialize in the next 2 weeks and the chances of a
global pandemic is very likely imminent.
