USA COVID-19 News: US Officials who are famous for spreading fake news and misinformation online such as the COVID-19 disease is just like common cold or that it is not air-borne or that Chloroquine or Hydroxychloroquine can treat and cure COVID-19 disease have now come up with new announcement that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is rapidly destroyed by sunlight. The announcement was made by a senior US official on Thursday, though the study has not yet been made public and awaits external evaluation.
Millions of hardworking and innocent Americans have already had their lives disrupted by the disease by being infected and having to endure lockdowns and also being economically affected. As of Friday 24 April, 1600 hrs Bangkok time, more than 887,000 Americans are confirmed infected with the COVID-19 disease that is caused by the SARS-CoV02 coronavirus that originated from China while more than 50,300 Americans have died from the deadly disease. The numbers are expected to rise exponentially in the next few weeks as there are millions more of asymptomatic carriers walking around the communities and spreading the virus silently.
Americans not only have to worry about dying from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus or from the impact of the economy but they now have to fear about dying from the drugs administered to them once they are sick with COVID-19!
The Science and Technology Advisor to the Department of Homeland Security secretary, William Bryan told reporters at the White House yesterday that government scientists had found ultraviolet rays had a potent impact on the pathogen, offering hope that its spread may ease over the summer.
He said, "Our most striking observation to date is the powerful effect that solar light appears to have on killing the virus, both surfaces and in the air."
He further added, "We've seen a similar effect with both temperature and humidity as well, where increasing the temperature and humidity or both is generally less favorable to the virus.” (now this is a fake as studies have shown that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus can withstand high temperatures. )

Interestingly the paper itself has not yet been released for review, making it difficult for independent experts to comment on how robust its methodology was.

Although it has long been known that ultraviolet light
has a sterilizing effect, because the radiation damages the virus's genetic material and their ability to replicate, a key question, however, will be what the intensity and wavelength of the UV light used in the experiment was and whether this accurately mimics natural light conditions in summer.
Dr Benjamin Neuman, chair of biological sciences at Texas A&M University-Texarkana commented to media, "It would be good to know how the test was done, and how the results were measured. Not that it would be done badly, just that there are several different ways to count viruses, depending on what aspect you are interested in studying."
The US official only shared a slide summarizing major findings of the experiment that was carried out at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center in Maryland.
The slides showed that the virus's half-life, the time taken for it to reduce to half its amount was 18 hours when the temperature was 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to 24 degrees Celsius) with 20 percent humidity on a non-porous surface such as door handles and stainless steel.
However, the slides showed that the half-life dropped to six hours when humidity rose to 80 percent and to just two minutes when sunlight was added to the equation.
Also when the SARS-CoV-2 virus was aerosolized, meaning suspended in the air, the half-life was one hour when the temperature was 70 to 75 degrees with 20 percent humidity.
It was shown in the slides that in the presence of sunlight, this dropped to just one and a half minutes.
The US officials concluded that summer-like conditions "will create an environment where transmission can be decreased."
The US Official, William Bryan added, though, that reduced spread did not mean the pathogen would be eliminated entirely and social distancing guidelines cannot be fully lifted.
So far there are no studies that really confirms that climate or season changes can affect the SARS-CoV-2 ability to spread or its ability to ‘survive’.
Till the details of the study are released and verified and till there are other more credible studies from credible sources, no one should trust any such announcements.
Thailand Medical News joins millions of people from other countries who are concerned about what is happening in the United States and are deeply saddened with the situation that millions of Americans are going through. We have done tried to do part by donating protective masks and PPEs to healthcare staff in New York and we are trying to develop a guideline for Americans to use simple herbs, supplements and repurposed drugs to treat mild to moderate symptoms only on their own and not be exploited by profit orientated sellers or scammers online. The guidelines are based on numerous past and present studies done on a various of compounds for repurposing to treat COVID-19. And though no clinical trials have been done on them so far, it is still better than being killed by toxic drugs that have no supporting studies either.
