EDITORIAL: COVID-19 Global Crisis-It Has Only Been A Dry Run. First Actual Wave Of The Pandemic Is Just Starting!

COVID-19 Global Crisis: As on Friday Morning (0830hrs, 17^th April 2020), the total number of confirmed infected individuals in the world is roughly about 2,195,000 while the official death toll is 147,027 (the real death toll could be around the range of 185,000 to 235,000 due to under reporting and cover ups by governments in most countries, and also in some cases as a result of lack of testing, the dead that were not tested positive were not classified as being dead due to COVID-19, even the United States adopts the same policy that it criticized China of doing.)


 
The figures are expected to rise even more exponentially in the next few months despite claims by governments that the peak is happening and that ‘curves are being flatten’ as we are actually really just moving into the real first wave of the pandemic. It is suspected that we have at least tens of thousands of individuals are who asymptomatic, silently shedding the virus among unknowing communities and populations and even they themselves will ultimately succumb to the virus in a variety of ways that has been ‘pre-programmed’ by the ‘smart’ evolving SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
 
It has been about 4 months since the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus made its debut, and despite more than 7,810 genomic sequencings of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, 6,894 published research papers and pre-prints, 1,426 clinical trials (most ongoing), 612 drug repurposing studies and more than 126 vaccines being developed, we are still no where and still clueless about the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease it causes.
 
There has been so much fake news and misinformation about the virus and the disease from day one, starting from China, WHO and the US CDC and supported by owners of social media platforms and search engines and many of the initial Chinese studies, reports, recommendations and guidelines that most countries are now basing their treatments protocols on are turning out be gross and criminal misinformation. In fact a lot of deaths could actually be attributed to this from drugs being used that cause cardiac failure in patients, drugs that actually caused toxic reactions, wrong usage of ventilators that actually resulted in deaths etc.
 
To date, we have no real drugs that can treat the COVID-19 disease,  many of the diagnostic platforms we are using are actually not accurate especially with emerging new mutated strains, even a new report has emerged that CT Scans might not even be giving the real picture https://www.ajronline.org/doi/10.2214/AJR.20.23202
 
Many of the experimental drugs that are being used are not only toxic but in some cases can have long term effects and in some cases are lot of clinical data of the experimental drugs are being manipulated by Governments and Pharmaceutical companies either for diplomatic dominance and leverage or for greed. Readers are advised to do their own due diligence on drugs like chloroquine, favipiravir, remdesivir, lopinavir/ritonavir, alpha-Interferon, darunavir, atanavir, azithromycin and tocilizumab that are being used in many countries. 
 
Many other potential treatment candidates on the other hand including TCM, APIs from certain phytochemicals and herbs and even certain common drugs that could be repurposed are bei ng deliberately ignored or suppressed by those in power (Thailand Medical News will be releasing some of these studies and clinical trials in a new premium content section to be introduced soon).
 
Its already bad enough that we have so many medical and scientific experts releasing  fake, distorted and misinformed data but we now have many non-medical personnel  coming up with epidemiological models, getting involved in social distancing and lockdown models and policies with fanciful terms such flattening the curves etc when it reality even the death and infected figures are all questionable and  to date no one even has the accurate details of the way the SARS-CoV-2 is able to spread and also its nature. It has all based on hearsay and ‘half-baked’ studies.
 
We are now seeing in countries that had so called managed the crisis well, experiencing a sudden eruption of cases ie Singapore, Japan, Taiwan. Forget about China that is trying to blame what is happening in Heilongjiang, Xinjiang and Guandong provinces on foreigners while in reality what is happening is not limited to these three provinces but literally every province once again.

We have no clues about the mutated strains and also about the constant evolving patterns about the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and even if those recovered are immune to further infections or the other strains. (Studies and reports so far show that it is most unlikely.) Some say that we are in the first wave of the pandemic and that a second and even third wave will occur as in the case of most virus based pandemics but for us at Thailand Medical News, we are insisting that this is not even the first wave. It is just a dry run. The first wave is just only starting to begin and we advise all our readers to really be ready and well equipped for it.
 
It is going to be worse as already there is a global shortage of medical equipment and drugs and already food chains are being infected.
 
Governments everywhere are in a state of quandary as they cannot remain in lockdown for long as it is affecting economic issues but at the same time the health issues and the prospect of millions more being infected and dying are at stake.
