Japan coronavirus epidemic continues to escalate as Japanese health authorities reported on Friday 12 new confirmed cases from the
coronavirus including a toddler from Saitama prefecture and 2 young brothers from Hokkaido.
Of the two brothers, one was below the age of 10.
The latest cases bring
Japan’s total
coronavirus confirmed cases to 106.
However the number of suspected cases of
coronavirus infections nationwide is almost 5,174 with most being observed or are in the midst of being tested. Some are also under self-quarantine.
Japanese health authorities are investigating how the three young children managed to contract the
coronavirus.
Many events in
Japan have been cancelled over the long weekend marking the Emperor’s birthday on Monday, due to fear of the
coronavirus.
Cases of the
coronavirus have sprouted up all over the various prefectures in
Japan and also in the city of Tokyo.
The total cases mentioned here do not include the infected passengers from the cruise ship that is docked at the port in Yokohama,
Japan.
Many have been speculating that
Japan might emerge as a
coronavirus epicenter outside China due to the amount of Japanese travellers visiting other high risk countries and also due to the large number of Chinese tourists that the country receives.
There will be no press briefings or updates about the
coronavirus situation in Japan the next few days according the health authorities until next Tuesday due to the extended holidays.
