Official figures on Saturday morning from Chinese health authorities are that 41 people have so far died from the new coronavirus strain in China while 1,287 people are infected although the numbers in state hospitals all over China are showing a different scenario.

France has reported three cases of individuals infected with the 2019-nCoV virus while a second case has also been reported in the US. All suspected 14 cases in the UK has turned out to be negative. Nepal has also reported its first case of a student infected with the virus.

Thailand reported its fifth case yesterday, bringing  the total number of cases in Thailand to 5. This places Thailand as the only country outside of China with the most number of cases so far. More cases are expected in Thailand as its one of the top destinations for Chinese tourists and all its international airports have been reporting huge numbers of Chinese travellers the last few days due to the Chinese New Year holidays. Although local health and government officials have been on high alert and many stringent measures have been put into place, the fact remains that as the incubation period of the virus is rumored to be anything between 2 to 8 days before symptoms materialize in those infected, thermal screenings at airports might not be an effective deterrent and there could be many infected Chinese travellers walking around Thailand infecting Thais at the very moment.

Countries like China, Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong has cancelled all Chinese New Year celebrations but not Thailand as it is desperate for the tourist’s dollar considering that its economy is really in one of the worst states ever. It is no surprise that shameless  authorities were boasting about Chinese New Year celebrations with media coverages of them welcoming Chinese tourists at the various destinations.

Meanwhile China has put a ban on all travel agencies promoting both domestic and international travel to avoid the spread of the disease.

The lockdown of 13 cities in China continues with 40 million of its citizens affected and more cities are expected to place in lockdown this weekend as cases of infections are now sprouting all over in various other provinces as well.

Meanwhile, WHO is still saying that it is too early to declare a global emergency and also many health and government officials in various other countries are still living in denial with statements like the virus is not as severe as SARs Or MERs or that the virus is mild or statements like there is no proof that the virus can spread from human to human.

People everywhere , no matter what country you are in, are advise to record and also collate all statements made by health professionals and also government officials as they should be held accountable for everything they have said or commented on later.

Meanwhile, Thailand Medical trong>News strongly advises that anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms, fever, coughs, breathing problems etc to immediately go to the nearest hospital. Do not delay and procrastinate and do not attempt to self-treat. Also always wear a facial mask when outdoors and also carry hand sanitizers and constantly clean your hands and avoid crowded places especially locations where there are lots of Chinese tourists.

Updates: As of publication time, Australia has also reported its first case in Melbourne.
