In a reflection how unethical and profit centered certain American big corporations are, even in times of a global health crisis such as the coronavirus epidemic that has so far killed more than 2009 people and infected 75,200 if not actually more and also how “filthy’ certain local Thai media corporations are, we are detailing a list of recent events concerning a research piece that we published on the 16
th of January 2020 (
https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/breaking-news!-latest-research-published-by-chinese-scientists-say-coronavirus-might-render-certain-male-patients-infertile )
We were approached by researchers from medical scientists from Nanjing Medical University and Suzhou Hospital that had published a
coronavirus research study in the free open access medrxiv about the how the new coronavirus specially targets the ACE2 receptors in the cells of various human tissues and organs and their urology-focused study concentrated on the effects of the new coronavirus on the kidney and testicular tissues.
The study indicated among other things that the new coronavirus damages and causes lesions in the testicular tissues that are rich in the ACE2 receptors and this could possibility lead to certain male patients who have recovered from the coronavirus being potentially infertile in the future.
The study has not been peer reviewed but how the coronavirus targets ACE2 receptors has already been validated in more than 11 studies so far.
We published the article to help create awareness of the study and was receiving about close to 8,700 social media shares in one particular American-based social media platform in 48 hours but unfortunately one American profit orientated medical publisher with a branch office and online platform in Japan as well, who was upset that lots of researchers are now moving to free open access platforms along with one Thai media company that was not happy that a small set up like ours is getting combined monthly traffic of about 15 million views per month from all our free sites, together instigated a certain social media platform based in America that is getting lots of advertising revenue from both sites to take down our social media posting with no particular reason. (the study published is not fake as ascertained by numerous medical entities)
Thailand medical news a small outfit that is run by only two individuals that offers free access to our news platforms and that does not receive any monies from any of our collaborators whose logos appear on the site and who do not have much financial resources and are not supported by any Thai corporations or government agencies hence do not have much money to spend on advertising on social media platforms.
We find such practices despicable and are planning to lodge legal actions in three countries ie Thailand, Japan and The US with certain law firms that have come to our rescue to help pro bono.
We need the public help to please share this above article again for more people to know while we our lawyers are planning necessary actions. Please note that the study is not fake.
