When compared to the previous week, ie 9
th to 15
th of June 2024 where there was a total of 2,881 COVID-19 hospitalizations, this represents a drop of almost 37 percent in hospital admissions for COVID-19.
The figures seem a bit incredible at the time where the rest of the world is witnessing a rise in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations as various sub-lineages of the KP.3 and LB.1 variant starts to become predominant.
From sequencing data available on the GISAID and COV-spectrum platforms, the highly infectious and transmissible KP.3 and LB.1 variants have already debuted in Thailand but strangely, the official data reported make it looks that these variants are not impacting local Thais that much!

Thailand Medical authorities also reported that there were a mere 12 COVID-19 deaths for the same week. i.e. 16th to 22nd of June 2024.

As usual there were no reports as to the actual number of infections, the number of COVID-19 test performed or the COVID-19 positivity rates. Hence everyone is clueless about the actual spread of the SARS-CoV-2 within the general population.
One thing we can be rest assured is that many are at the moment feeling sick and are experiencing long bouts of symptoms including fatigue, body pains and cognitive issues, coughs, breathing and gastrointestinal issues as from reports from various private hospitals across the country. Outpatient consultations are at high levels in various private hospitals.
While we wait for the usual Thai “experts’ to make their comments in the garbage mainstream media outlets in the next few hours, who will most probably make the usual statements that the new SARS-CoV-2 variants are mild or that vaccination protects or waning immunity is the reason some are developing severe conditions or that only the old or the unvaccinated are the ones facing hospitalizations or deaths, we can end with the simple statement…Please..Don’t Tha
