Thailand Medical: COVID-19 Cases are once again gradually rising across Thailand and the rise is coming at a bad time as in a few days’ time, millions of Thais will be returning home to their provinces to celebrate the upcoming Songkran holidays, thereby helping to spread the virus and also increasing the risk to old folks in their upcountry homes. Furthermore, millions of tourists, with many carrying novel SARS-CoV-2 sub-lineages are descending into the country to celebrate the stupid water-throwing festival and with the lack of proper airport health screening, we can expect the local population to be introduced to even newer SARS-CoV-2 sub-lineages emerging in Europe, China, India and North America.

Thailand is already possibly facing a current challenge from new SARS-CoV-2 sub-lineages such as KP.2, KP.2.1, KP.1.1. and KQ.1 that are more immune evasive and more transmissible. The other newer SARS-CoV-2 sub-lineages such as KR.1 and KS.1 are not detected in Thailand yet but should make their presence soon especially with lots of tourists coming in the next few days.

Many scientists are warning that it is possible that immunity conferred by previous infections or by the COVID-19 vaccines offer no protection against these newer SARS-CoV-2 sub-lineages.

Weekly COVID-19 Hospitalization Rate: 31st March - 6th April 2024.
Recent data released by the Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Disease Control shows that for the week 31st of March to 6th of April 2024, there were a total of 728 new COVID-19 hospitalizations and 3 Deaths.

On an average there were about 111 new COVID-19 hospitalizations per day.

It should be noted that these are merely COVID-19 hospitalization figures. The actual number of asymptomatic and mild symptomatic infections could in in very high amounts and there is nothing to be happy about such figures as it means that many are at risk of long COVID and long-term health issues and this would be a burden to the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

Rising Incidences of Medical Conditions.
Already Thailand is witnessing a rise in diabetes, cardiovascular issues including heart failures, strokes and even cancer rates are increasing. Many published studies and cases reports have already linked COVID-19 infections and even possibly the mRNA jabs to these rising health conditions.

Rising COVID-19 Inpatients and Outpatients at Various Private Hospitals Across The Country.
Reports are emerging that many private hospitals across the country are witnessing a gradual deluge of patients seeking both inpatient and outpatient care due to COVID-19.

Real COVID-19 Situation In Thailand
Thai authorities do not release any COVID-19 data with regards to actual number of infections per week or about number of COVID-19 test actually conducted or about COVID-19 test positivity rates. Thus, whatever data that is being released does not reflect the actual nature of the COVID-19 spread within the population.

Cumulative COVID-19 Hospitalized Cases Since the Start of 2024
Total COVID-19 hospitalized cases since January 2024 paints a broader picture of the COVID-19 crisis in the country. Since the start of 2024, a total of 7,740 patients have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications.

A total of 65 COVID-19 deaths were reported for the same period. These worrisome numbers underscore the persistent impact of the virus on public health and healthcare systems, necessitating continued vigilance and robust response measures.

Comparison with Previous Week: 24th - 30th March 2024
So as to contextualize the current surge, it is imperative to compare the data with the preceding week. Between 24th and 30th March 2024, Thailand recorded 728 hospitalizations, averaging 104 cases per day. The week also saw two COVID-19 related deaths, averaging one death daily. This analysis reveals a substantial increase in both hospitalizations and fatalities within a short span, indicating a rapid escalation of the pandemic's impact.

In the week even preceding that ie 17th to 23rd of March, there were only 630 hospitalized COVID-19 cases and 5 deaths.

We will be reporting more in coming days on certain cluster outbreaks in various provinces and updates on the prison outbreak in Prachuab Khiri Khan province that were not disclosed by the mainstream media.

The COVID-19 situation in Thailand should be of no concern to local Thais there are claims by some “experts" that they have found a treatment protocol to prevent disease severity and risk of death from COVID-19 infections involving the use of fluvoxamine and other repurposed drugs based on a study orchestrated by a forest monk from the North of Thailand that was led by a Sri Lankan researcher and some Muslim doctors from USA and Canada and a female Western doctor that had a vested interest in promoting fluvoxamine based on a patent she owns.

Unfortunately, many Thailand Medical doctors were unknowingly drawn into that study possibly by a certain local doctor despite many international experts including teams from the WHO and U.S. NIH having conducted previous studies that found no efficacy in the use of fluvoxamine in treating COVID-19 and in fact many new data is showing that fluvoxamine is possibly dangerous when used to treat COVID-19 individuals as many are already possibly having heart issues due to the virus or due to the mRNA vaccines and Fluvoxamine can cause QT prolongation and also arrhythmia issues. Apparently a number of international researchers are working together to call for a retraction of that study based on certain issues. Another international publication will be publishing a detailed expose on this whole saga sometime around the 20th to 22nd of May 2024 which is a must read.
