U.S. Medical News: Lol! The former U.S. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb who is now a board member of Pfizer made so many predictions like Delta would be the last variant or that the COVID-19 crisis should be over by the 4
th of January 2022 etc and many were lapped up readily by the mainstream American media, social media and search engine platforms.

We are now in the middle of December 2021 or rather just another 8 days more before Christmas and already the United States is witnessing daily increases in COVID-19 infections and deaths and mind you, the Omicron has not really come into play yet, we are just still dealing with the various Delta subvariants.
In the last 24 hours, America saw 146,195 new COVID-19 infections and 1,157 new deaths. In reality both figures could be many fold higher as many states are underreporting figures and in the cases of deaths are not conducting the relevant COVID-19 testing protocols so as to keep overall figures low and make the Biden administration be perceived as efficient in managing the COVID-19 crisis in America.
Hospitalization rates are increasing in literally every state as the country prepares for another pandemic holiday season.
COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to climb, having now trended upward for more than two months as hospitals across the country face staffing shortages due to the vaccine mandates imposed by Biden.
Data released from the US Department of Health and Human Services shows that 67,306 are hospitalized with COVID-19, 40% higher than a month ago.
Beds in intensive care units are 78% full, and one in five of those patients are COVID-19 patients.
The U.S. is now averaging 118,717 new Covid-19 cases each day the past week….40% higher than a month ago, as per Johns Hopkins University data.

Already many colleges and universities are moving to online classes and exams while multiple Broadway shows are canceling performances and professional sports leagues are postponing games. Major trade shows, annual company events and Christmas fairs are being cancelled as the surge is increasing along with fears about the Omicron variant which is gradually spreading via local community infections.
Just like the United Kingdom, it is expected that America too with witness a scenario of more co-infections involving both the Delta ad Omicron variants with possible catastrophic consequences.
Alarmingly, in New York City, the test positivity rate of PCR tests doubled between December 9 and 12, rising from 3.9% to 7.8%, according to mayoral adviser Dr. Jay Varma, who tweeted Thursday, "We've never seen this before in New York City."
Across America nationwide, 1,326 Covid-19 deaths are being reported each day on average,
according to Johns Hopkins data, a 12% increase compared to a month prior.
The upticks come as the Omicron variant which scientists believe to be more contagious, though most cases so far appear to be mild is identified in a growing number of US states.
State officials in Alabama and Kansas on Thursday announced Omicron cases in their states.
U.S. Medical News reports that a total of 39 states in the United States now has the Omicron variant.
In certain states, like New York and New Jersey, there is a high presence of Omicron in as many as 13 per cent of the total samples.
In New York, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) positivity has doubled in three days, which the experts say is due to the Omicron variant. “It is clear that the Omicron variant is here in New York City in full force,” New York mayor Bill de Blasio said.
However, it should be noted that the Delta variant ad its emerging sub-variants continue to be the main variants circulating in the United States.
Also, just two weeks after it was first detected in Washington, the omicron variant now appears to be spreading widely in the state.
Alarmingly in a test of just over 200 recent positive COVID-19 cases, University of Washington researchers found that roughly 13% of samples contained the variant strain, an increase from 7% just a day earlier, and 3% the day before that. Up until this month, the delta variant had comprised nearly all of the state’s COVID cases.
The United States so far has a total of more than 50.51 million Americans who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus so far and more than 803,650 Americans have died from the COVID-19 disease so far.
Despite a high vaccination rate, more Americans are expected to die from COVID-19 in the next 4 months and the excess death rates are also expected to skyrocket due to long COVID-19 issues such as heart failures, strokes and kidney failures etc which are not being listed as COVID-19 deaths as per the rules laid down by the Biden administration.
However, the overall deaths figures in the U.S. are still not expected to that that exponentially high as what will ultimately be seen in the surges starting in late 2022 and peaking around early 2024 where newer recombinant or reassortant variants, ‘original antigenic sin’, ADE and viral priming are expected to contribute to catastrophic death rates.
