Vaccine News: An American health worker from Alaska had a serious allergic reaction after getting a Pfizer Inc and BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine shot and was hospitalized, but is now stable, U.S. public health authorities said on Wednesday.

The health worker with no known allergies suffered adverse reaction minutes after taking the Pfizer shot on Tuesday.

Similar cases were reported last week in Britain.

UK’s medical regulator has said that anyone with a history of anaphylaxis, or severe allergic reactions to a medicine or food, should not get the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

Pfizer confirmed it was working with local authorities to investigate the incident.

Health workers in Britain had similar allergic reactions, causing the government there to tell individuals to avoid getting the shot if they had a history of severe allergies.

The American FDA issued an emergency approval with the warning that people who had known allergies to ingredients inside the vaccine should avoid it.

A Pfizer spokesperson said, "We don't yet have all the details of the report from Alaska about a potential serious allergic reactions but are actively working with local health authorities to assess."

The spokesperson said, "We will closely monitor all reports suggestive of serious allergic reactions following vaccination and update labeling language if needed."

It was said that volunteers for Pfizer's clinical trial of 44,000 people were excluded if they had a history of allergic reactions to vaccines or components of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The trial found no serious safety issues, but regulators and the company are continuing to monitor for adverse events after vaccination.

America is vaccinating some three million people this week with the vaccine, and hopes to reach a total of 20 million people this month if another vaccine, developed by Moderna, is approved.

The COVID-19 vaccines are claimed to be safe by the developers, researchers associated with them and also by American and British health regulators.

Interestingly in a sudden turn of events, President Trump, President Elect Biden and Former President Obama who all said that they will all be the first to take the COVID-19 vaccines on live TV to assure the American public have now discreetly backed away from doing so, in some cases saying that the vaccines should be given to those in need of it first. With millions of COVID-19 vaccines being delivered, 3 doses would not make a difference but rather it will install more confidence and silence all the misinformation and fake news on the internet.

An interesting development that is also causing a stir online was BioMTech’s public filings to the U.S. SEC in September and the mention about certain details about the variant used in developing the COVID-19 vaccine with Pfizer and also about the study approach. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1776985/000156459020053062/bntx- ex991_6.htm#RISK_FACTORS
(read pages 70-72, implications are subject to reader’s prior knowledge about the subject and interpretations).

The world will only truly know about the real positive or negative  or no effects of the COVID-19 vaccines in only about 4 to 6 months’ time, hence it is important that as many Americans, Brits, French, Indians and Middle-Easterners are vaccinated.
