An endoscope is a piece of medical equipment used to inspect internal organs, take tissue samples, or remove diseased tissue through small incisions in the skin or through bodily orifices. Both flexible and rigid endoscopes use fiber-optic technology in order to allow a surgeon to see inside a patient's body.
